METEORAGE participates in the 10th European Conferences on Severe Storms (ECSS) in Krakow (Poland) gathering more than 250 experts worldwide.

On this occasion, one or our experts, Stéphane SCHMITT presented the results of a study conducted in collaboration with Michaël KREITZ, a weather engineer (Météo-France) and teacher at the "Ecole Nationale de la Météorologie" (ENM), on human accidents related to lightning in France and Europe over the last 10 years.
This study shows that the large majority of accidents are not related to sudden and unpredictable events, contrary to a common belief.
It highlights the efficiency of real-time alert systems to reduce the number of accidents, while advocating a need for awareness raising among organizations in addition to current campaigns targeting individuals.
